We are a credit broker, not a lender. This notice outlines our commitment to protecting and respecting your privacy and data rights as required by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The GDPR grants individuals more rights and requires Data Controllers to be more transparent in their processing of personal data.

This privacy notice applies to any users who share information with us. Data protection law requires us to have a valid reason for using your personal data. We may rely on one or more of the following reasons to use your personal data:

  • To fulfil our contractual obligations to you
  • To comply with legal requirements
  • To pursue our legitimate business interests, provided that these interests do not conflict with your own interests, rights, or freedoms
  • With your consent

The Information That We Collect

When you apply for our products and services, we will ask you to voluntarily provide us with personal information such as employment details, salary, bank account information, and proof of identification. In every case, we process this data in the most sensitive manner possible. If you do not provide this information, we may not be able to offer you our products and services.

When and Where We Need Your Consent

There will be circumstances where we will only process your data if we have your consent to do so. For example, if you provide us with data that is classed as a special category of data such as health information, criminal records of convictions and offences, or allegations of criminal offences. We will only process this with your permission (unless we feel the processing is necessary to protect your vital interests or if the law allows us to do so). You have a right at any time to ask us to stop the processing of that specific data.

Use of Data and Personal Information

We may also collect information about you from third parties, including credit reference agencies, to help us determine the best product or service for your needs based on your application. This information will be used to match you with the appropriate product or service.

How We Use Personal Data

As the Data Controller, we are responsible for ensuring that we have a legitimate reason for processing your information. Some of the purposes for which we may use your personal data include:

  • Processing your inquiries and identifying the services and products best suited to your needs, including sharing your information with finance lenders
  • Identifying you and any accounts you hold with us
  • Conducting credit and affordability checks with credit reference agencies, such as TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax – Credit Reference Agency Information Notices (CRAIN) can be seen on the attached links

Data Sharing with Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs)

To process your application, we will perform credit and identity checks on you with one or more Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs). We may also carry out further periodic searches at CRAs to allow us to manage your account with us.

To do this, we will supply your personal information to CRAs. This will include your name, date of birth and residential address. It may also include additional information such as your salary, previous residential addresses and other information you provide as part of your credit application.

The CRAs will match this information to the records they hold about you, and provide in return, both public information (including the electoral register) and shared credit information about your financial situation and financial history.

We will continue to exchange information about you with CRAs while you have a relationship with us. We will also inform the CRA’s about your settled accounts. If you borrow and do not repay in full or on time, the CRAs will record the outstanding debt. This information may be supplied to other organisations by CRAs.

When CRAs receive a search from us they will place a search footprint on your credit file that may be seen by other lenders.

If you are making a joint application, or tell us that you have a spouse or a financial associate, we will link your records together, so you should make sure you discuss this with them, and share with them this information, before lodging the application. CRAs will also link your records together and these links will remain on your and their files until such time as your partner successfully files for a disassociation with the CRAs to break the link.

Authorised Third Parties

We may share your information with any person or organisation that you have given permission to engage with us on your behalf or that has a legal authorisation to do so. This includes parents/guardians, or any other helpers in cases where you are unable to manage your own affairs due to mental incapacity or similar issues. We may also share your information with organisations you have chosen to act on your behalf or authorised to receive your information, such as law firms and claims management companies.

Vision Funding Finance Partners

We act as a credit intermediary (broker) and will share your information with our lending partners. While we typically act as a Data Controller with regards to your information, there may be instances where we act as a Data Processor. In those cases, the relevant Data Controller's (lender's) privacy notice will apply.
